StarShadow Farms is a 65-acre farm run by two old married (and retired) Baby Boomers who don't eat anything that has been given a name. We raise Murray Grey beef (from Australia), Kiko and Boer goats, and 3 varieties of endangered ducks. We breed (and show) champion Great Danes (a.k.a. 5 couch potatoes). We have several colors of guinea fowl as comic relief and guard services. An Australian sheep dog and an Australian cattle dog round up the free-ranging chickens from their individual field pens to roost at night. And we have Clover, our yard ornament Arabian mare, who is a granddaughter of the "Black Stallion", Cass Ole. Quite a farmyard collection!
We have begun hatching several "endangered" breeds, attempting to spread the breed standard throughout the country. So far, our hatch rate (knock on wood) is 90%+. The chickens MUST be doing something right! We are also having 2 hatches per week of various breeds and will be offering them on Rare Breed Auctions, as well.
